Kohl’s Donates $271,160 to Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation

Mountainside, NJ: Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation received a $271,160 donation from Kohl’s to support the Kohl’s Autism Awareness Program through Children’s Specialized Hospital.
A crowd of more than 30 community members, hospital staff and Kohl’s associates gathered recently at the Kohl’s store in Wayne to celebrate the donation presentation. Vanessa Camacho shared her personal story about her son who was screened at one of the free developmental screening clinics offered by Children’s Specialized Hospital. Since 2000, Kohl’s has donated more than $5.6 million to Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation.
New Jersey has the highest incidence of autism in the country with 1 in 49 children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. This year, Kohl’s Autism Awareness program will offer more than 20 free developmental screening clinics. The Kohl’s Autism Awareness program also supports community education programs and the Kohl’s Community Hub – an online resource for individuals with autism, family members, professionals, service providers, and other members to gather and share useful information and resource about building awareness and understanding of people living with autism spectrum disorder in their communities. The Community Hub provides a vast amount of practical resources to enhance function and quality of life, increase safety, and improve the effectiveness of community services.
