Children's Specialized Hospital's #FightFace Social Media Campaign Wins National Public Relations Award

Children’s Specialized Hospital announced today that their #FightFace social media campaign has received national recognition from PR News, a national public relations trade organization. The #FightFace campaign won the “Facebook Best Use of Video” category in PRNews’ annual Social Media awards and was an honorable mention in “Facebook Public Relations Campaign” and “Twitter Use of Hashtag.”
“We are honored our work was recognized and stood out among national brands, industry leading non-profits and multi-billion dollar consumer businesses,” said Janice Kelly, marketing director, Children’s Specialized Hospital. “Rachel Platten’s ‘Fight Song’ will forever be the anthem of our patients, families and staff. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to use the power of social media to help inspire children everywhere to keep fighting!”
The social media campaign launched in July 2015 with a music video featuring dozens of patients and staff of the nation’s largest pediatric rehabilitation hospital. The video asked people everywhere to take and share a picture of their best #FightFace selfie on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to encourage children to keep fighting to get better. To date, the video has had over 55,000 views and the hospital has received over 550 #FightFace selfies and they keep coming! This national recognition comes just a few months after being recognized by the New Jersey Hospital Marketing Association by winning the annual Social Media Percy award. The social media campaign also earned the attention of many local and national celebrities including former Rutgers University football player, Eric LeGrand; WPLJ radio personalities, Todd Pettingill and Jayde Donovan; from the NASH FM America’s Morning Show Blair Garner and Chuck Wicks and Sesame’s Street’s Oscar the Grouch!
On August 3, 2015 ABC’s The View, featured Rachel Platten performing her hit song and segments of Children’s Specialized Hospital’s music video. Two patient families were also invited to be on the show and share their personal stories of being in the video and how the song has helped them. Other major media outlets also covered the campaign including, NJ.com/The Star Ledger (New Jersey’s largest daily newspaper), and TheMighty.com a national disability advocacy website.
Artistic displays of all of the #FightFace selfies will be created for each of the hospital’s 13 locations for patients, visitors and staff to enjoy for years to come.
