Children’s Specialized was truly a place where the staff and volunteers were truly making a difference and maximizing the potential of every child,” said Harrison. “The smiles have not faded and the staff is just as compassionate. Despite growing to over 13 locations, there continues to be a demand for the specialized services. The fact that I have the opportunity to play a small role in helping children with life changing illness, injury or diagnosis is reason enough to volunteer another 20 years or more.”

Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation raised $15 million in 2014 to support the pediatric rehabilitation programs and services of the Hospital. The majority of gifts were designated for special projects like the expansion of the inpatient hospital in New Brunswick and the opening of a new outpatient center in Warren, expanding the hospital’s ability to improve access to care for children across the state. Unlike acute care hospitals, Children’s Specialized does not receive government funding to care for patients who are uninsured or underinsured. The Foundation is ranked among the top six pediatric hospital foundations in the nation.

Children’s Specialized Hospital is the nation’s leading provider of inpatient and outpatient care for children from birth to 21 years of age facing special health challenges — from chronic illnesses and complex physical disabilities like brain and spinal cord injuries, to developmental and behavioral issues like autism and mental health. At thirteen different New Jersey locations, our pediatric specialists partner with families to make our many innovative therapies and medical treatments more personalized and effective...so children can achieve more of their goals.
