Children's Specialized Hospital Expands Outpatient Center in Passaic County

May 18, 2017

Children’s Specialized Hospital celebrated the expansion of its outpatient center at 1135 Broad Street in Clifton, New Jersey on May 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with an open house at the facility. While the outpatient center has been open since 2010, it has relocated from a small office on the first floor to the entirety of the third floor allowing more children with special needs to receive the care they need.

Children’s Specialized Hospital serves over 30,000 children with special health needs annually at thirteen locations across the state of New Jersey. In 2016, the Clifton location alone served 378 unique patients providing occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, and psychology services. The expansion will expand these services while also introducing developmental and behavioral pediatrics services including learning, developmental, and behavioral issues, as well as Autism and ADHD related conditions. The new location has a large therapy gym, 5 treatment rooms, and a room for parents to watch therapy sessions without the children knowing and disrupting therapy sessions.

“We are thrilled to be able to bring additional services to the area for our patients and families to ensure more children can receive the special care they need,” said Patricia Foley, vice president of outpatient services at Children’s Specialized Hospital. “This is going to help us reduce our waitlist so that more children can reach their full potential.”

Thanks to the continued support from L’Oréal Operations, USA, this long awaited project was able to come to life. The company is committed to promoting environmental progress, health and well-being through empowerment and volunteerism. Xavier Windal, Senior Vice President, L’Oréal Operations Americas, said, “L’Oréal Operations is proud of the contributions our efforts have provided to Children’s Specialized Hospital over the past 10 years.  Our employees volunteer their time and share their passion at events such as the Annual Charity Golf Outing, L’Oréal Volunteer Day and CSH’s Summer Beach Party, to name a few,  to help share the beauty of health with the special families Children’s Specialized Hospital works with. We hope this expansion will allow them to positively impact many more families and provide children the opportunity to be the best they can be.”

In a state with the highest reported rate of autism in the country, Children’s Specialized Hospital is proud to be the leading provider of autism services for children in New Jersey, treating over 7,400 children with autism each year. Home to the most developmental and behavioral pediatric specialists in the country, it is also the nation’s leader in education, research and early diagnosis. The addition of a developmental and behavioral specialist at the Clifton outpatient center will address the growing needs of the community and help children with autism and other developmental and behavioral disorders in Passaic County.

With three children receiving therapy for Autism Spectrum Disorder at the Children’s Specialized Hospital, Clifton Outpatient Center, Rebecca Reece knows first-hand how this expansion will be benefiting families. “It is crazy trying to coordinate appointments for all three kids so we are very excited for the increase of both services as well as appointment availability,” said Reece. “Children’s Specialized Hospital has played a huge role in our family’s life and we are so grateful for all of the incredible care and compassion the staff shows us every time we walk through the doors.”

“Helping to expand Children’s Specialized Hospital’s Clifton outpatient center really brings to life all the hard work and dedication of volunteers, suppliers of L’Oréal, and the committee” Morris Lenczicki, CSHF Board officer and Chair of L’Oréal Operations, USA “Fore the Children” Charity Event Committee
