October 03, 2016

Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation received a $10,000 gift from the Karma Foundation, in celebration of the Karma Foundation’s 20th anniversary.  Established in 1996, the Karma Foundation supports arts and culture, autism, education and literacy, health and human service, and the enrichment of Jewish life.  Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation was one of twenty non-profits selected by the Karma Foundation to receive the $10,000 gift for the “20 for 20 Awards.”

Children’s Specialized Hospital is the nation’s leading provider of inpatient and outpatient care for children from birth to 21 years of age facing special health challenges — from chronic illnesses and complex physical disabilities like brain and spinal cord injuries, to developmental and behavioral issues like autism and mental health. At twelve different New Jersey locations, their pediatric specialists partner with families to make their innovative therapies and medical treatments personalized and effective...so children can achieve more of their goals.

“We are incredibly grateful for the Karma Foundation’s long time support of our mission to create a world where every child can reach their maximum potential,” said Phil Salerno, President and Chief Development Officer, Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation. “The support spans over a decade and included a $100,000 gift to our capital campaign that helped build our inpatient rehabilitation hospital in New Brunswick.  This gift will be used for the hospital’s greatest need, where we can make the biggest impact.”

On September 20, 2016 the Karma Foundation hosted a celebratory luncheon at Fresco restaurant in Milltown, NJ and presented the awards.  Pictured left to right: Sharon Karmazin, President, Karma Foundation; Dina Karmazin Elkins, Executive Director, Karma Foundation; Phil Salerno, President & Chief Development Officer, Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation; and Beth Anne Dobosh, Director of Corporate & Foundation Partnerships, Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation
