Brave Souls To Plunge For The Kids - March 8 2014

February 01, 2014

Each year hundreds of hardy volunteers brave the freezing Atlantic Ocean in the cold of winter to raise money for the Elks Camp Moore, a camp for children with special needs and Children’s Specialized Hospital, the nation’s largest provider of pediatric rehabilitation services for children with special needs with twelve locations throughout New Jersey. They are gearing up again: The New Jersey Elks’ 7th Annual John Sentner Memorial Plunge “Freezin’ for a Reason” will take place Saturday, March 8 at Manasquan Beach. Check in starts at 10 a.m. and the plunge is at 12:00 p.m.

Last year nearly 200 participants from all over the state took the plunge, raising $90,000

“We’re excited for another great turnout this year,” said Bryon Masterson, Southeast District Elks Special Children’s Committee Chairman and Chairman of the Elks Miracle Plunge. “The water is chilly and the winds might blow, but volunteers have fun knowing they are helping children.”

After the plunge, event participants are invited to celebrate their fundraising efforts at The Manasquan Elks Lodge #2534, 17 Stockton Lake Blvd, Manasquan NJ 08736, which includes live entertainment, food and beverages, and a gift auction.
