Jebrill G High School honor roll student

In 2001 Deirdre Genovese decided to take a second foster child, Jebrill, who she later adopted in 2006. Jebrill had a rough start in life as he was premature and diagnosed with failure to thrive. Deirdre immediately brought him to the experts at Children’s Specialized Hospital. He received physical and occupational therapy services at Children’s Specialized Hospital from the ages of 3 months to 7 years old. Deirdre saw a remarkable improvement in Jebrill, but knew there was something more. After a thorough evaluation, Jebrill was diagnosed with ADHD and was placed on the autism spectrum at the age of 4.

“The therapists at the hospital created a behavioral plan and structure that carried over in my home and school so he could socialize and interact appropriately with family and peers,” said Deirdre.

Jebrill is currently followed by specialists every 6 months for ongoing evaluations to ensure he is on the right dose of mediaction for his ADHD. He is a freshman in high school, an honor roll student and has received academic achievement awards. Jebrill enjoys basketball, summer camp, and drawing.

“Without the expertise and resources at Children’s Specialized Hospital, Jebrill would not be the mature social teenager he is today,” said Deirdre. “We will forever be grateful Children’s Specialized wrapped their arms around our entire family to help get Jebrill to where he is today!”
