Friday Night Fever
Friday Night Fever is a monthly social and recreational program for teens with disabilities. The program provides opportunities for teens to make friends, socialize, participate in activities, access a variety of community facilities, and just be a teenager! The group meets monthly for activities at the hospital location or at various facilities in the community. This program is based at both our Toms River and Mountainside locations.
Participant Criteria

  • Between the ages of 13 and 21 years old
  • Medically stable
  • Able to demonstrate safety awareness and follow group rules
  • Able to communicate wants and needs verbally or with assistive device
  • Able to initiate and engage in social interactions
Past Activities and Events

  • Bowling
  • Movie night
  • Game/social night
  • Prom
  • Yoga night
  • Ice cream social
  • Trip to the boardwalk
  • Broadway musical
  • Trip to aquarium

Volunteer and Engagement Opportunities

  • Provide assistance to teens and staff during group activities and outings
  • Act as a teen role model and establish relationships with teens
  • Provide venue, supplies, and/or support during planning and implementing events
