Treatment Program
Navigating the demands of daily life, school and/or work is a major concern f or a child, adolescent, or young adult who has acquired a brain injury or has a neurologic disorder.
A child or adolescent with a brain injury/neurologic disorder may have difficulty in areas that support effective communication, participation and transition to the community, and adjustment to disability. Some of these areas include: safety awareness, problem solving, memory, attention, fine motor skill, visual and verbal information processing and reasoning and self monitoring. The Outpatient Brain Injury program team identifies and individual’s patterns of strength and weaknesses and develops a rehabilitation plan to support a successful process of recovery.
The Treatment Program
Our Outpatient Brain Injury Program provides group and/or individual services to children and adolescents with acquired brain injuries and neurologic disorders.
Our team includes: Neuropsychologists, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Social Workers, Therapy Aides, Special Educators, and most importantly, you and your family.
During your child’s treatment, we will:
Collaborate with you to create an individualized treatment plan to meet the needs of your child and family.
Teach your child and family behavioral, emotional, social, and learning strategies to manage the challenges of brain injury.
Educate your child and family on ways to advocate for support at school and in the community.
Ensure a smooth transition through the many levels of rehabilitation. We will continue to monitor, assess, and update recommendations regarding your child’s needs following discharge, and assist your child and family whenever possible.
