School Involvement
An essential component of the Outpatient Brain Injury Program is a close collaboration among the treatment staff, the family and the patient’s school district. The staff assists with the coordination of home academic instruction, part time school placement or enrollment in the educational services available at the facility.
To foster communication regarding a child or adolescent’s recovery, school personnel are invited to attend family meetings with the consent of the family. With family consent, staff can also attend school meetings and provide consultation in the educational planning process to promote successful school re-integration.
Neuropsychological assessments are typically conducted yearly to monitor recovery and need for continued support.
