Outpatient Brain Injury
The Department of Neuropsychology and Neurorehabilitation at Children's Specialized Hospital is comprised if a group of highly specialized professionals in the areas of neuropsychology, psychology, occupational therapy and speech therapy dedicated to the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of functional disorders resulting from neurologic disorders and/or brain injury.
Our team of specialists can assist physicians, parents and teachers in understanding the impact of traumatic, acquired brain injury (those injuries that are the result of illness or as a result of extended chemotherapy) and neurologic disorders and develop and implement a treatment plan to address functional skill deficits while fostering areas of strength.
THE OUTPATIENT BRAIN INJURY PROGRAM
This comprehensive nonacademic program has a continuum of services tailored to meet the individual needs of each patient. Therapeutic interventions are implemented to assist children and teens with brain injury regain functional skills and learn compensatory
strategies.
NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT
Our neuropsychologists specialize in the assessment of brain function and behavior. This comprehensive assessment identifies underlying strengths and weaknesses in the areas of cognition, memory, and executive function which assist in the development of compensatory skills and informs treatment and educational planning to improve function in home, school and community.
