Early Intervention

Children's Specialized Hospital's Early Intervention Program (EIP) provides early identification, evaluation and intervention for children up to three years of age who have a condition that impairs or has a high predictability of impairing normal development and/or who have measurable developmental delays. Services provided are: speech, occupational and physical therapies, psychology, nursing, nutrition, social work/family training and developmental intervention (teaching). All of the services are provided in the child's home or in a community setting where the child is comfortable.

In 2008, Children's Specialized provided services to over 3300 children with developmental disabilities or chronic illnesses accounting for over 81,000 hours of service. Children's Specialized EIP provides services to children residing in Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Somerset and Union Counties.

  • Is delivered in the child's natural environment such as their home or child care or community settings.
  • Provides parent/caregiver training and participation in EIP sessions.
