Shawn and Sue’s Making Miracles Radiothon benefits Children’s Specialized Hospital, a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital
November 25, 2013 - Chidlren's Specialized Hospital
Children’s Specialized Hospital
, a proud member of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, is partnering with 92.7 FM/WOBM for a third “
Shawn and Sue
Making Miracles Radiothon”
on December 6
. Shawn Michaels and Sue Moll of the Ocean County Breakfast Show will broadcast live from Ocean County Mall from 5 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Listeners can donate by calling
or logging onto www.miracles.kintera.org
Throughout the broadcast, many local families will share their personal stories of adversity and triumph when caring for a child with special needs and how Children’s Specialized Hospital has personally helped their families. Children’s Specialized Hospital treats
children affected by brain injury, spinal cord injury, premature birth, autism, developmental delays, and life-changing illnesses and is a proud member
of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
Major sponsors include TGI Friday’s in Tom’s River Ocean First Bank and Tom’s River Sunrise Rotary Club. Sponsors will be recognized online, in the mall and on-air throughout the event. Funds will also be raised through silent auctions. Ocean County Mall is also in on the fundraising with several of their stores holding week long Children’s Miracle Networkk Hospitals balloon icon campaigns. The radiothon hopes to raise $50,000 to help support the creation of a wheelchair accessible playground and renovations to the long term care center at the hospital’s two Toms River locations.
Donors are encouraged to give any amount they can, but those who give a $25 monthly donation will be entered into the “Miracle Maker” club. Miracle Makers will be given a radiothon t-shirt and will be invited to a private brunch with Shawn and Sue and some of the hospital families.
“Children's Specialized is an amazing place where miracles happen every single day,” said Moll. “I'm so proud to be a part of this fantastic radiothon for a fantastic place for kids and families.”
Shawn and Sue’s Making Miracles Radiothon in 2011 raised over $30,000, which helped Children's Specialized Hospital open a new outpatient center in Toms River at Lakehurst Road. The radiothon scheduled for 2012 was cancelled due to the tremendous devastation to the area by Superstorm Sandy.
“This is a terrific event and we are happy to again partner with 92.7 WOBM,” said Philip Salerno III, president and CDO of Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation. “We have a deep connection to this community and serve more than 4,000 children every year, right here in Ocean and Monmouth counties. We are excited about the opportunity to work more closely with the community and continue to serve any child who needs us.”
WOBM and Children’s Specialized Hospital are looking for volunteers to help work the phones. If interested, please contact Children’s Miracle Network Program Director, Nicole Fulmino at 908-389-5602 or email@example.com.
