New Jersey Elks Host 6th Annual Miracle Plunge March 16
Beef & Brew January 19
January 11, 2013 - Children's Specialized Hospital

Each year hundreds of hardy volunteers brave the freezing Atlantic Ocean in the cold of winter to raise money for Children’s Specialized Hospital, the nation’s largest provider of pediatric rehabilitation services for children with special needs with two locations in Toms River. They are gearing up again: The New Jersey Elks’ 6th Annual Miracle Plunge “Freezin’ for a Reason” will take place Saturday, March 16. Since Belmar was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy, the location has changed to the Asbury Park Convention Center. Check in starts at 10 a.m. and the plunge is at 12:00 p.m.
To sign up for the Miracle Plunge, visit: www.miracleplunge2013.kintera.org or call 732-684-8048.
Last year more than 300 participants from all over the state took the plunge, raising $100,000 to benefit the Elks of New Jersey’s Camp Moore, Children’s Specialized Hospital and the Cooley’s Anemia Foundation. The proceeds help strengthen the fight against thalassemia, support specialized health care for children with special needs.
“We’re excited for another great turnout this year,” said Bryon Masterson, Southeast District Elks Special Children’s Committee Chairman and Chairman of the Elks Miracle Plunge. “The water is chilly and the winds might blow, but volunteers have fun knowing they are helping children.”
To kick off the Miracle Plunge Season, the New Jersey Elks is hosting the Miracle Plunge Beef and Brew Saturday, January 19, from 6 to 10 P.M., at the Toms River Elks Lodge #1875, 600 Washington St., in Toms River. Tickets are $25 and include dinner, drinks and entertainment.
