Children’s Specialized Hospital’s second Lecture Series on Autism Gene Discovery on June 26

Children’s Specialized Hospital announces the second lecture in the new distinguished lecture series; Dr. Joseph D. Buxbaum will discuss “Gene Discovery in Autism and the Impact on Improved Patient Care” on June 26, at noon at PSE&G Children’s Specialized Hospital, 200 Somerset Street in New Brunswick.

Children’s Specialized Hospital welcomes all physicians, researchers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals are invited to attend a free lecture. This new research education program is free for health care professionals and gives participants the opportunity to meet world-renowned doctors and research specialists on various topics and studies affecting the health care industry today.
Dr. Buxbaum is the G. Harold and Leila Y. Mathers Professor of Psychiatry, Neuroscience, and Genetic and Genomic Sciences, the Head of the Laboratory of Molecular Neuropsychiatry, and the Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Buxbaum is also the Director of the Seaver Autism Center, and his research focuses on molecular genetics and neurobiology to identify and ultimately characterize genes that contribute to autism susceptibility. He has written over 200 publications and is the co-editor-in-chief of the journal Molecular Autism. Dr. Buxbaum is also the co-founder and leader of the Autism Sequencing Consortium, an international group of researchers who share autism samples, genetic data, and analyses in order to accelerate the understanding of the causes and treatments of autism spectrum disorders.
