Former Patient and USA Paralympic Snowboarder Visits Children's Specialized Hospital Patients
Dan Monzo Visits PSE&G Children’s Specialized Hospital
March 27, 2014 - Children's Specialized Hospital

Dan Monzo, of Vernon, former Children’s Specialized Hospital patient and member of the first ever US Paralympic snowboard team, visited the patients at PSE&G Children’s Specialized Hospital in New Brunswick on Tuesday, March 25, 2014. The kids were excited for his visit and greeted Dan with a welcome banner, cards and posters. During his visit, Dan entertained the patients, families and staff by showcasing his snowboarding gear, autographing personalized Children’s Specialized Hospital medals, sharing his inspiring story giving hope to patients recovering from similar traumatic injuries.

At 15 years old, Dan lost his leg in a dirt bike accident. He was treated at Children Specialized Hospital in Mountainside for three months. It took only two weeks after learning how to walk with a prosthetic leg before Dan was back on the slopes learning to snowboard. From there, he followed his dream all the way to the 2014 Paralympics in Sochi, Russia.

Dan had just finished competing with the first ever USA Paralympic snowboarding team in Sochi before coming to PSE&G Children’s Specialized Hospital for a visit. Only home for about a week before returning for training in Utah, Dan made it a priority to come and visit the kids.
