Children’s Specialized Hospital Names New Chief Medical Officer
August 07, 2013 - Children's Specialized Hospital

Children’s Specialized Hospital has named Christopher Haines, DO, FAAP, FACEP, as the new chief medical officer of the nation’s largest pediatric rehabilitation system. Under Haines’s leadership, the hospital will continue to serve over 20,000 children annually affected by brain injury, spinal cord injury, premature birth, autism, developmental delays, and life-changing illnesses through its ten sites in New Jersey.
“Dr. Haines brings extensive knowledge in pediatrics and emergency medicine. Because of the advancement in medical care and technology, the children seen at Children’s Specialized Hospital are much more medically complex,” said Amy B. Mansue, president and CEO, Children’s Specialized Hospital. “He is a great addition to our stellar clinical and senior leadership teams. We know Dr. Haines’ experience will help the children we serve reach their maximum potential."

As the new chief medical officer, Haines will oversee all of the hospital’s medical programs including inpatient rehabilitation, physicians’ practices, research and the fellowship program.
“It is our hope that we can continue to grow and develop our collaborative care approach with referring physicians and hospitals, both regionally and across the nation,” said Haines. “I feel privileged to have this opportunity to lead and build awareness around the excellent clinical reputation Children's Specialized has for specialized pediatric care and rehabilitation."
Haines joined Children’s Specialized in early June from St. Christopher's Hospital, in Philadelphia PA where he served as the director of the Department of Emergency Medicine. He earned his Doctorate of Osteopathic medicine from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Philadelphia, PA; completed his residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia, PA; and fulfilled his fellowship at Akron Children's Medical Center, Akron, Ohio. Dr. Haines is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric emergency medicine and will earn an MBA at Drexel University LeBow College of Business in early 2014.
Haines lives with his wife and two children in Bucks County PA. He looks forward to making every second of his time at Children’s Specialized Hospital count for the patients and their families.
